Prakash Earns National Recognition
We are so excited to announce that Tara Prakash, the first-ever Maryland Youth Poet Laureate, non-profit founder, and Words Beats & Life collaborator, has been selected as the runner up for the National Youth Poet Laureate!
Tara Prakash has made huge strides in the poetry scene. From her appointment as the 2024 Montgomery County Youth Poet Laureate to being selected as runner-up for the National Youth Poet Laureate, she is quickly becoming one of the nation's premiere youth poets. We'd also like to congratulate Evan Wang, who was crowned the 9th National Youth Poet Laureate.
One of Prakash’s biggest projects is establishing the non-profit Write To Right, which focuses on the power of creative writing to enact social change. Through this initiative, Prakash has partnered with Montgomery County Public Libraries and Free Minds to help bring creative writing opportunities to students who lack exposure through their schools.
Prakash continues to make her mark in the world of poetry and we look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next!
