Meet the Towards 2040 Creative Leaders Fellows | 2022-2023

Our first year of the “Towards 2040 Creative Leaders Fellowship” concluded this past spring with the completion of five projects that reimagined how hip-hop impacts education, public space, creative funding, mental health, and nutrition. Learn about our 2023 fellows below.

The 2023 “Towards: 2040” fellows.

About The Fellowship

The "Towards 2040: Creative Leaders Fellowship" was designed to center marginalized voices, advance arts education, promote creative employment, and strengthen global connections. Through this fellowship, we aim to empower individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to become influential leaders in the hip-hop community and beyond. By providing resources, mentorship, and opportunities for collaboration, we hope to foster a future where hip-hop serves as a catalyst for positive social change and inclusivity on a global scale.

2024 Fellowship Applications

We are currently accepting applications for our "Towards 2040: Creative Leaders Fellowship" grantees in 2024. We are looking for creative leaders in the DMV's hip-hop scene who are arts administrators, cultural workers, or community organizers.

This fellowship aims to support individuals who are passionate about using hip-hop as a tool for community empowerment and social justice. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to engage in a six-month intensive program that includes mentorship, networking events, and access to funding for their projects. Through this program, we seek to cultivate a network of innovative thinkers and change-makers who will drive the evolution of hip-hop culture in the DMV region and beyond.

If you are dedicated to making a positive impact through your work in the hip-hop community, we encourage you to apply and join us on this transformative journey towards a more inclusive and socially conscious future. We encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply, as we believe in the power of representation and inclusivity in driving meaningful change.
