Meet the Grand Slam Winner | WBL Fest 2025
On April 5th, 2025 youth poets from around the DMV convened at the Brookland Busboys & Poets during WBL Fest 2025 for a chance to win a spot on the 2025 DMV Youth Poetry Slam Team.

After six months of competitions the slam season came to one final competition during WBL Fest 2025. We are excited to announce that this years Slamtastic finalists and the newest members of the 2025 DMV Youth Poetry Slam Team are Precious (Grand Slam Winner), Siyyon and Joy. They join current members Saniya, Lemonade, and Elizabeth and as a team embark on a fourteen week intensive training with our team of world renowned poets and coaches. Together they will craft and practice solo and group pieces to compete this July at the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Festival in Madison, Wisconsin. This four-day festival brings together the nation’s top poets and artists with “electrifying performances, transformative workshops and powerful civic action.”
